i'll take you in and show you where to start NOW ARE WE IN THIS TOGETHER? TIME IS RUNNING OUT( TAG: ANNIE . LOCATION: DORMS . OUTFIT: HERE ) For being a young man who was going through so much Isaac was handling it surprisingly well. At first it had been hard and he still had his days now where it was hard to grasp onto the concept but it was something he knew that he had to live with and instead of becoming bitter and upset about it he instead became optimistic, hopeful and kept on pushing on through everything. He didn't let his sickness stop him from going to school or majoring what he wanted. He didn't let it stop him from having friends and going out and having fun. The only thing that Isaac had let it get in the way of was pursuing a romantic relationship with someone. Well, not just someone, Annie to be exact. Ever since he could remember he had always been in love with Annie. What wasn't there to love about her? She was gorgeous, fun to hang out with, intelligent, she could make him laugh and she was his best friend. He had tried to move onto someone else but that had only lasted a month or two then went into flames because he was diagnosed with Leukemia.
Isaac hadn't wanted to mess things up with Annie, he liked how they were right now. Even though he loved her he wanted her to be with someone else no matter how much it hurt him. Isaac had come to the conclusion that he could never be the man that she needed, he could never protect her like others could, there was no guarantee that he would be around for much longer and because he was always sick having a girlfriend would make things so much harder on him if he was dying. Annie deserved more than to sit by his bedside for the rest of his life. Yes she was doing that now but it was different, they weren't dating and while he knew it would hurt her if something did happen to him it would hurt twice as much if they were actually dating or god forbid engaged or even more. For the first time in his life Isaac was actually starting to change his opinions on all of that but then of course life had different plans for him and after going to the doctors and having more tests taken it would appear that he would never know what it was like to have anything more than a friendship with Annie.
Today Isaac had been called back to the doctors after requesting more tests after the last set he had gave him some horribly bad news. He couldn't tell anyone until he was sure it was true and after today's doctors appointment he knew it was. Isaac's parents, sister and brother-in-law already knew the news now it was time to tell his best friends, particularly Annie. After his sister dropped him off at the dorms Isaac said his goodbyes and then trudged through the snow that was on the pathway and made his way to the front doors. It was a beautiful snowy day out which Isaac would have usually loved but with the weight he was carrying on his shoulders today it was the last thing on his mind. Upon reaching her dorm he knocked lightly on it a few times and after hearing a call from inside he stepped through the door and then closed it behind him after he was inside. "Hey gorgeous.
" He said giving her a smile as he slung his messenger bag off his shoulder and then took off his hat, gloves, scarf and jacket and laid them over a nearby chair before crossing the room and taking a seat on her bed beside her. Now that he was here it was just a matter of time before he would have to break the news to her. [/blockquote] ( WORD COUNT: SIX FORTY-TWO . NOTES: D: )

It had been hard watching Isaac suffer for as long as she had. He was such an amazing person and it was always the good ones that had bad things happening to them. Despite the pain she felt at watching him that way, she had stood by his side because she was his best friend and it was her duty. Of course, the fierce protectiveness she felt over him was not simply stemmed from years of friendship, but from years of attraction too. In Annie's mind, it was never going anywhere. She and Isaac seemed destined to simply be friends. Funnly because even though she had convinced herself nothing would come from this, she had remained single for the entire twenty years of her life. Part of her was waiting for Isaac to realise just how perfect they would be together, though her logical side knew it would never happen. She and Isaac would be too complicated. That had been her logic, at least until she found out that he was better. Maybe they could have a chance to be together. Annie just wanted one chance with him, so badly that it hurt. It was hard to love someone who was strictly convinced they were friends. Everyone around them acted like there was something between them, but if what did anyone else know about their feelings. Sure, they were a bit couple-like at times, but Annie could honestly tell people that he felt nothing for her.
Annie had spent the day in her dorm, not knowing that Isaac planned to visit. It showed by her attire. She was still in her pajamas. She hadn't seen the need to get dressed because she was planning to linger around her dorm, doing assignments and that junk. It was going to peaceful, or at least she had assumed that's how it was going to be. That's why it had surprised her so much when she heard a knock at her door. She called out, not wanting ot move from her bed, knowing it'd only be Isaac, Brighton or Harley. It was Isaac and it was confirmed after his usual compliment. It was comments like that which warmed her heart and rasied her hopes that maybe something could occur between the two. It was her dream and something she never ceased thinking about. Annie may not have meant anything more to him than a best friend, but to her, he was her entire world. She was glad that she no longer had to worry about what her world would be like without him in it. She smiled back at him, sitting up as he joined her on the bed. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and beamed. "Hey! Is it cold out there?" she asked him casually, her eyes going over to all the clothes he had piled on a chair. She didn't mind of course.
It didn't take her long to realise that something was up. There was a weird sort of awkward-tension hanging in the room. Annie may not have known what was causing it, but she knew enough to know it was something serious. The look on Isaac's face confirmed it. He looked worried and that didn't sit well with her. Nothing that could make him look like that had to be good. The smile on her face faded and she adopted a more serious expression. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" She did her best to sound calm, but her worry showed in her eyes and leaked through into her tone. She was trying to convince herself that it was nothing. He was probably just stressed out about school. Yes, that had to be it. Things were fine. If it was anythign really bad he would've told her immediately and he wouldn't have come in with a smile on his face. She ignored the logical part of her brain that was telling her he would have, just to show her that he was happy to see her. She was panicking, overreacting, which was nothing unusual when it came to Isaac. She was so determined to take care of him and make him happy after all that had been going on, that every time he was down, even if it was about something tiny, she made a big deal about it. It may have been annoying, but that was Annie and it was her way of telling him that she cared.

i'll take you in and show you where to start NOW ARE WE IN THIS TOGETHER? TIME IS RUNNING OUT( TAG: ANNIE . LOCATION: DORMS . OUTFIT: HERE ) Usually Isaac was more than happy to go to Annie's dorm to see her. Well, anything with Annie made him particularly happy to be honest. She always had her ways of getting him to smile when he didn't feel like it. Take this entire ordeal with his cancer for instance, even though he knew it was hard for her she had always been by his side, always holding his hand through it all. She had been so supportive and she had been an amazing friend. To be completely honest Isaac had always had feelings toward Annie, it was impossible not to. She was everything he wanted in a girlfriend and he really hoped that someday they would be more. It was kind of funny to think that he was actually about to ask her out back before he first got diagnosed, he wanted to ask her so bad but when the cancer didn't go away like they originally thought it would he pushed those thoughts aside. Isaac only ever had one girlfriend and they had dated for less than a month, it wasn't anything serious, they hadn't even shared more than a kiss to the cheek. He wanted to save his firsts for Annie as pathetic as that may sound but with the way things were going now it seemed like none of what he planned would ever happen.
The thought of Annie was usually what got him through each and every treatment and hospitalization. It was hard not to think of her even after they had been friends for so long. It was easier to say that Isaac was in love with her, he had been for nearly ten years but to actually pursue something? No, not now, not with him in the condition he had been in, the condition he was in now. He wouldn't do that to her. Things were bad enough as it was for her seeing her best friend go through everything that he was going through and he had often woken up at the hospital to hear her by his bedside crying. What he had to tell her today was going to be hard but she needed to be the first to know. It had been a week since he was first told the horrible news but he wouldn't accept it and asked the doctors to run the tests again, it couldn't be true, he wouldn't believe it. He had been feeling better, sure he was still weak and he was feeling worse than usual but Isaac figured it was just a cold or something but he had been wrong.
For once Isaac was actually starting to look to the future, a job after college, maybe even asking Annie to be his date to the winter ball but now he wasn't sure if he could do any of that. Right now his life was hanging in the balance and thinking of the future was downing his spirits for once. There was always that hope that he was going to get better but after the news he received today he wasn't so sure any longer. Upon arriving in Annie's room and shedding himself of his winter attire he moved to her bed and sat down beside her but not before sending a compliment in her direction. As she greeted him and wrapped her arms around him in a hug Isaac smiled and hugged her back tightly. "It's freezing.
" He replied as he pulled away slightly but let his hand rest on her own for a few moments. " It's snowing again so it looks like we'll have to have our usual snow battle sometime soon." Isaac stated with another smile as he let his hand finally release her own and he laid back on her bed, pulling one of her pillows over to rest under his head. Now that their greetings were over there were more important matters to discuss no matter how much Isaac was wishing to avoid them. Apparently Annie had caught onto the fact that something was weighing heavily on Isaac's mind and when she spoke up he nodded his head slightly. " I have to talk to you about something." He spoke up quietly as he ran his fingers through his hair that had finally grown back. Letting out a sigh he pushed himself up into a sitting position as he pulled one of his legs onto the bed and he dropped his gaze to look at his hands. " Last week I told you that I had some tests done but they had to redo them just to double check everything, remember? That wasn't a lie because it had been true, Isaac hadn't confirmed or denied that anything was wrong or that anything was going great because the test results had to be redone and that was exactly what he had told her. " They got the results back today..." At those words his voice dropped and he lifted his gaze up to glance at his best friend for a brief moment. " I'm dying, Annie." He whispered quietly. [/blockquote] ( WORD COUNT: EIGHT FORTY ONE . NOTES: D: )

BEFORE I CONTINUE, I'D JUST LIKE TO SAY LONGER THAN I EXPECTED. WOO!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
When Isaac said snow fight, she groaned immediately. It wasn't that their annual war wasn't fun, but Brighton and Isaac always ganged up on her and she ended up sick afterwards. It was probably because she ended up soaked in the first few minutes and had to stay out there defending herself longer than she would have liked. Even now, she could not get the two boys to cease which frustrated her like whoa. They were getting too old for that, and Annie couldn't afford to get sick. Well, maybe now she could because she had nothing to be stressed or worried about. In the past, she'd always had Isaac and his condition to be concerned about and her worrying didn't help her recovery in long. In fact, she stayed unwell just that bit longer because of it. However, things were fine because things could once again be how it was before the fateful day when Isaac was diagnosed. It was amazing how different things felt knowing that Isaac would be okay. There was no more worrying, no more nights crying, no more forcing smiles at his hospital bed. It was all over and they could just be them, without the complications of an illness. "Do we have to have the snowball fight? I don't want to get sick this far into the semester."
"I have to talk to you about something." Those words caused her heart to stop for a very long moment. There was the confirmation she was waiting for. Something was bothering him, but what? Test results and cancer coming back hadn't crossed her mind because she had convinced herself it was long go. Isaac was such a good person and he had already suffered more than enough for one person. It couldn't happen to him again. Maybe he was going to admit a deep attraction to her. Annie almost giggled at the thought, but now wasn't the time. Unfortunately, she could tell her idea was false by the time he had opened his mouth because of the way he was now holding himself and the new expression on his face. She waited silently, hoping that he wouldn't be something horrible. When he began speaking about tests, she knew what he was getting at. Immediately she knew, but she wouldn't believe it. It had to be wrong. She just nodded at him and waited. Her hands were squezzed tightly into fists as she waited. Her nails were pressing into her fist as she listened to him. Finally, he said those two words that had her shaking her head in complete disbelief. "I'm dying..." She refused to believe it.
This was Isaac: her best friend, the love of her life. He couldn't be dying. What would her life be without the handsome, sweet, funny human being across from her. The one who could make her laugh through her tears, who comforted her when she cried, who brought her soup and tea when she was sick. He knew everything there was to know about her and she more herself around him than she could ever be around anyone else. She sat in a stunned silence, shaking her head. The news refused to register. He wasn't dying, he just had cancer again, was how her brain was interpreting the information, but that didn't help her any. Isaac didn't deserve this. "This isn't fair," she mumbled. "It isn't fair!" she said again, this time a lot louder. Her best friend shouldn't be forced to go through this again. Tears slipped over her eyelid and ran down her cheek slowly, as she tried to keep herself together. "Please? Tell me this is some kind of sick joke?" She was begging him. Watching Isaac suffer again wasn't something she wanted, for him not her. She would sit by his side, no matter what. She could not abandon him, because she knew he'd do exactly the same for her.

i'll take you in and show you where to start NOW ARE WE IN THIS TOGETHER? TIME IS RUNNING OUT( TAG: ANNIE . LOCATION: DORMS . OUTFIT: HERE ) The annual snowball war the three of them got into every year was always amazing. Whenever it would snow enough to go outside and have a snowball fight the three of them would then Brighton and Isaac always ended up ganging up on Annie. Of course it was all in good fun and once Annie had enough they would stop and go inside. Even when Isaac hadn't been at his strongest point in his life he still tried to go out and have the 'fight' with his friends. Even though they would gang up on Annie, Isaac would always go inside right afterward and with her, draw her a hot bath, put some tea on and then spend the rest of the day cuddled up beside her on the bed or couch with blankets and pillows while they watched movies together. Sometimes Brighton would join them but sometimes he wouldn't, claiming that he had 'elsewhere' to be. Isaac knew the truth though. His best friend often shrunk out of things like that to give Annie and Isaac time alone and Isaac really did appreciate it, he just wished that he could actually work up the courage to ask out the love of his life. "How about this year we gang up on Brighton?"
Isaac asked with a smile. He was really hoping that he could come to Annie's with good news for her, for anything other than this. He just wished that the cancer would go away and never come back, he wanted to live his life like a normal person, he wanted to be able to spend at least a few months without tests, without being forced back into the hospital. He had never done anything to deserve this but apparently his life hated him and thought opposite. Isaac never complained though, he went through each treatment in silence with a small smile on his face even though sometimes he wanted to argue about it with someone. He knew that would get him nowhere though and optimism had to be at the forefront of his mind. He had to stay positive, it was one of the things that had gotten him this far through life. Once the words slipped out of his mouth he stole a glance up at Annie not sure how she was going to react. His doctor gave him a few months to a year tops with the way the tests came back but Isaac was determined to last longer, to live his life to a ripe old age and to accomplish everything he ever wanted to accomplish. There had to be someway to beat the cancer, there had to be something, anything. Isaac wished more than anything that he was lying, that the doctors had lied and that he was going to be alright but right now he didn't think that was going to happen. This time though they had caught the cancer early so hopefully he would live through it and maybe, just maybe he could have a good life, a better life than the one he had had over the past four years. Not that his life hadn't been good before but without the cancer it probably would have been a lot better. "I wish it were." He spoke quietly as he moved forward and brushed the tears off of her cheeks. "Hey, how many other times have they said this and I made it through? I'm not giving up, Annie." As Isaac softly spoke those words to her he moved over so that he was sitting right beside her and wrapped one of his arms around her and pulled her head against his chest gently. Running his fingers through her hair he turned his head to the side and kissed her head. "Everything's going to be alright." Isaac was positive that everything was going to be okay, he couldn't doubt this, he didn't want to doubt this. He wanted to believe that it was all going to work out and to do that he had to remain positive. [/blockquote] ( WORD COUNT: SIX SEVENTY FOUR . NOTES: D: )
