AURORA WAS LAYING IN BED slowly waking up from her sleep. She was the type of girl who could get ready in five minutes, and look outstanding, but it was because she was a naturally beauitful girl. Her curly hair, and face structure made her appear flawless, and she used it to her advantage by not applying so much make-up, or doing much to herself other then take care of herself, but other then that. If Aurora would put more effort into her appearance, she would sure be more of popular girl then what she was now, even if she was part of the popular crowd already, she was one of those types of girls that could be easily forgotten about, nothing about Aurora really stood out, or screamed to people, but she was completely content with that. From what she saw of the popularity, it caused drama, and that was what she hated, but it popularity did come with a price, and she, of course, was part of some kind of drama.
ROLLING OVER TO GLANCE AT HER clock on the bedside table, it flashed eleven twenty-six in the late morning, and she let out a sigh, attempting to open her eyes and get them adjusted to the light in her room. Sliding rather slowly from her bed, she walked to her attached bathroom, and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Recently, she cut her hair shorter, and had it professionally straighten. She remember reading somewhere about Japanese culture that if someone had cut their hair shorter the next day after a break-up, it meant that it was their way of dealing with the heartbreak, and with recent events in Aurora's life, breaking up with Tyler was definitely worth the haircut. She had gotten it done just after classes on the Friday, and no one had seen it yet, but she wasn't planning on mentioning why she did it, most of her "friends" would think it was silly, and a ploy to get Tyler back into her life.
AFTER A FEW DAYS AFTER HER BREAK-UP with Tyler, she found herself sitting away from the crowd during their lunch hours, and wanting more time with herself, or someone that would keep her own thoughts of Tyler. So it was a surprise when she found that her wish was coming true. Oliver Aimes had been trying to reconnect their childhood friendship, and she was actually looking forward to having her little Oliie back as a friend. She knew when high school came that they would end up going their separate ways, but she wasn't trying to avoid him, even if it did seem like it at times, but it was part of being in a totally different clique then him. She didn't need more rumors to arise about herself, she was tired of being a topic to discuss, from having an eating disorder to sleeping around behind Tyler's back, she was sick of how people tended to gossip, but that's what happens when you live in a small town, and you needed to talk about something to pass the time, so talking about the people in the town was a good, and "harmless" way of doing so.
WITH ABOUT TEN MINUTES LEFT BEFORE she was suppose to meet up with Ollie, she decided to play a random CD, and get ready to the song, so it was kind of amusing to her when Jessica Simpson's Still Beautiful country song came through her speakers, and she just shrugged, thinking maybe it was a sign that even after a break-up, everyday she still had was a gift. As the lyrics of the song blasted throughout her room, she decided on a navy t-shirt, and jeans, keeping in mind that was to go bowling. The thought alone amused her slightly, she hadn't gone bowling since she was eight or nine, and she had this image in her head of herself being a klutz and falling from the weight letting go of the bowling ball, falling flat on her face, and still managing to get a strike.
SHE WAS RATHER EXCITED TO HANG OUT Ollie and Piper, she found the couple to be so adorable, and had envied them for their relationship, and how long it's lasted, and how it's lasted, especially when Piper left to go to school a few months ago. She heard some people mention how they couldn't understand how someone like Ollie could get someone like Piper, but Piper wasn't the shallow type of girl, dating only very attractive guys, she was better then that, and had surprised everyone when she agreed to go out with Ollie, even Ollie himself, but Aurora knew from then that they would last a long time, maybe even get married. Ollie's personality, and his sarcastic self had been the key factor in their relationship, and Aurora could see it from the get-go, every girl wants a guy who can always make her laugh, and that's what she got.
WITH FIVE MINUTES TO SPARE, Aurora was going to be true to the 'girls are always late' critique, but she didn't care, Ollie didn't seem like the type to be upset about that whole thing. Getting in her car, and sitting in the driver's seat, with her arms around herself to maintain her heat, and waited while the car warmed up. Winter was definitely here, and she didn't like it one bit. She missed the sun, and not getting blinded by the snow as she drove, but winter did bring snow days, and that meant she could sleep in. She lived for sleep, and could do it all day long if she was allowed, but like all people, she did need an education, and to get on with her life.
DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, SHE SMILED looking for the bowling alley. Even if this was a small town, she didn't even know where the bowling alley was, it wasn't really the coolest place to hang out, but she was looking forward to it, and catching up with Ollie. Even if she was a year older, they did have a pretty good friendship when they were younger, and she was rather excited to re-connect with him once more. After about ten minutes, of driving around the blocks, she finally found the building, and laughed to herself. Being twenty minutes late wasn't in the plan, and she was a bit afraid that Ollie thought that she stood him up, so she ran inside the building and looked for her childhood friend.
