The tall building in front of her seemed almost threatening. Threatening in the way that Sunny felt like it'd swallow her and never let her out again, if she entered the big glass doors that lead into it. The building she was standing outside of, contemplating if whether to actually enter it and take the risk of never coming back out or just walk away again, was a recording studio. A big one. Quite fancy for the band she was out visiting today. The band belonged to her ex-boyfriend and they were extremely good, but she had never thought they'd get this far. Not that she hadn't believed in them - she had - it was just that she had never thought they'd want to be signed by this kind of record company. They'd always given the impression that they didn't care if their record company would be fancy, or even big, but that they just wanted to be signed and get their music out there. That was all the beauty in their band, besides the music they made. At any situation she'd be proud of them, but right now she didn't know if she was. Sure, she was happy they had made it.. But the fact that they hadn't stuck up to their own words and beliefs was kind of a disappointment. Plus, the fact that her ex-boyfriend was in the band took off points as well.
With that being put out in the spotlight, you would probably get the impression that Sunny was just the typical gal that hated her ex boyfriend for breaking up with her. That was not the case at all. Their story went like this; Sunny and Conrad - the ex - had been dating ever since their sophomore year in high-school. They were high-school sweethearts, and Conrad even asked Sunny to marry him in their senior year. Then, close to their graduation, Sunny found out she was pregnant. They never really agreed on something specifically, but seeing as they were getting married anyways Sunny didn't think that it would be a problem raising the baby together. So, they left it at that and the pregnancy had progressed. Conrad, already having some trouble with drugs and alcohol, got abusive with drugs and abusive toward Sunny. It ended in tragedy; he ended up stabbing her, one night, several times in the gut. She lost the baby's life, and nearly her own, and he fled the country. So no.. Sunny was definitely not your typical teenager that was upset with her ex for leaving her. She was the untypical teenager that was murderously furious with her ex boyfriend for stabbing her, killing her baby, and then fleeing. Some twisted shit, eh? Yeah well, that might explain why the band had been taken off points in Sunny's book because of Conrad.
Now, four years later, Sunny was about to face the band that had practically been her family, ever since seventh grade, and her ex boyfriend, whom she would much rather never have to face again. She was nothing but ready to start crying, and was forcing herself not to let the stinging feeling of the tears get to her. She wouldn't let herself cry - she hardly ever cried. It was a sign of weakness, and what she'd learned of life was that weakness never brought anything good. Beside that, she was never going to let Conrad get the pleasure of making her cry again - whether he knew of it or not. She'd cried enough for him and because of him, and had promised herself never to do it again. It was difficult, however, especially as she moved forward and pulled the door in.
It was as if, by every step she took, that she could feel Conrad getting closer. She could almost breathe the intoxicating smell of his cologne in - or so it felt like. As she moved through the corridors, having already been instructed on where to go, she felt herself begin to shake. She was definitely not ready for this, she could feel the fear devouring her flesh to the bone, but yet still her legs wouldn't stop moving. Something was pulling her forward, and she knew exactly what it was. It made the anger inside of her boil even more. After so many years, after so much hurt, and yet he still managed to pull her in like that. It just wasn't fair.
Moving like a zombie through the corridors, not paying attention to anything but her horrid thoughts, it was a miracle that she had stopped by the right door. She didn't know how long she'd been standing there, but once she realized she was at her destination her heart jumped to her throat and started beating rapidly against her chest. Her whole body went rigid, as her eyes shot down to the door knob that almost seemed evil now. Once turning that knob there was no turning back.. She would be in hell and wouldn't be able to turn back. Cheers to hell.
Terrified, shaky and just slightly paranoid of what was awaiting her behind the door, she reached out and turned the doorknob.
"Sunny!" A deep voice called out, as Sunny stepped through the door, and she was greeted by a pair of arms winding themselves around her slim figure. Blinking surprised, Sunny grabbed a hold of the guys sleeves and leaned her head against his firm chest. A smile then spread evenly across her lips, as she breathed in the familiar scent of the tall, gangly boy that was hugging her "Joshy!" She cried out, wrapping her arms fully around him as they engaged in a reunion. Two seconds later, an additional three males had joined the two in the reunion by wrapping their arms around Sunny. She was laughing - for the first time in a very long time, she was actually happy; totally forgetting who should be in the room as well.
"I. Can't. Breathe." She faked, once the hugging became a little too much to her, and was immediately released by the three other boys. Josh, however, did not seem to want to let go - he was still with his arms wound around her waist. She laughed, looking at the excited faces of the four boys surrounding her "I forgot how crazy it seems that such scary looking boys can be so cute," She teased, looking up at Josh and the others. They all laughed simultaneously, and then a pale, slightly feminine looking, guy with blond hair spoke up; "We've missed you, Sun," Sunny smiled "I've missed you too,"
The sound of someone clearing his throat interrupted Sunny's euphoria and the guys all turned their heads toward the sound. Three of them moved away, while Josh remained at her side with his arms wrapped around her waist, revealing a guy sitting on a chair in a corner of the room. The familiar face of Conrad struck her so hard, it ws insanity - she was happy to have Josh holding her, or else she feared she would've collapsed. Her body went rigid, yet against, and as it did she felt the arms around her body tighten. The smile on her face disappeared, as she starred into the electric eyes of her ex lover. God. Four years and he hadn't changed one bit. Still the heartthrob he'd been four years ago. God, he was a bitch.
"Hi," Was the only thing she managed to croak, as she starred him in the eye. She was terrified, but not of him. Of the tears that were threatening to reveal the pain she was feeling now.
