twenty two, stubborn , outgoing , committed, confident , respectful , conflicted , private , intelligent, good natured, peaceful, loving, devoted, cheeky, observant, reserved with his feelings, complacent, likes to laugh, chronically undecided , romantic , a gentleman.
This is here is Jonathan Dante Degilio though he also gets Jon or Jonny. He's twenty two, a junior, living at Branford and majoring in Architecture. His family has a history of alcoholism and it seems Jonathan is on the verge of continuing the pattern thought he is struggling with it all the way. He is not an out there person but he is quietly confident and will give anything a go if it's put in front of him. He wants relationships, not one night stands, and is very respectful towards women. He's not one to share his feelings with you, he's the kind of person that keeps things bottled up inside, a side effect of that being that he turns towards a bottle instead of an actual person when trying to deal with his problems. One of these problems being the rocky relationship he has with his father, a recovering alcoholic, who has let Jonathan down nearly his entire life. Jonathan doesn't no why he doesn't just save himself the disappointment, but instead for some reason forgives his father every time and agrees to give him another chance. He knows he's given his father more chances than he deserves but still for some naive reason, holds out hope that this time it will be different. But it never is.
That Jonathan is able to keep such good spirits and act like the cheeky romantic gentleman that he is is all down to the rest of his family. He gets his romantic notions from his mother, who has been telling him that one day he'll meet the girl of his dreams since he was six years old. He is responsible and patient, raising his younger brother William when their own father could not. William is nineteen now and the brothers clown around like they are two best friends, wrestling and goading each other in backyard games of basketball and football. Jon and his twin sister Sophie would bicker and argue the entire time growing up but he always knew he had her support no matter what. She's witty and fun and no one makes Jonathan laugh harder. And finally, there is his step-father who Jon owes his education, and his sanity, too. Jason Whitmore became the father Jonathan needed at the most important times, always offering advice and encouragement and never once putting any doubts in Jon's head. Thanks to him Jonathan was able to make it here, to one of the best colleges in the country.
Though confident in himself Jonathan is a terrible decision maker. When faced with any two possibilities Jonathan panics, wanting both and yet neither at the same time. Right now he is facing the dilemma of pursuing architecture, something he always saw himself doing, and writing, something that he loves and is passionate about. Most of the time Jon will remain happily complacement, content with not picking anything and leaving things the way they were. But he knows that his decision affects his future and that it is one he must make, which scares the hell out of him.
All in all you will find Jonathan an easy person to get along with, though a hard one to get to know. He will watch out for you, look after you, protect you but one wrong step and you'll lose him because he's tired of people letting him down. While he longs to be in love he's also afraid of it, afraid that he'll fall for a girl only to turn into his father and drive her away, just like the story of his parents. But he's willing to give any girl a shot, as long as she's looking for the same thing he is.
