2.30pm, exactly and Blake walked out of the lecture room. Sometimes, on days like today, he regretted choosing engineering as his major. Sure, he was good at it, and he knew it but such complexity, everyday, from about eight thirty every morning drained him. It would drain everyone, especially teachers who knew, or were supposed to know, their subject inside-out. He knew what he signed up for when he'd arrived at New Haven, and had his first lessons at Yale. He had a taste of Advanced Physics back in England, when he was still doing his GCSE's. He was a bright kid, he knew he'd cope, even if it would take him a little more than everyone else.
Back in England, Blake wasn't exactly the best student. He was average, but things were much harder there. Competition was just overwhelming there, and he preferred it at Yale, even if he had his best mates back in England. He made new friends, great friends. It wasn't as though he was an introvert and found it hard to befriend people. Blake was the opposite. He was outgoing, contrary to what people might think of him at first glance. He loved his friends to death, and with girls, he always seemed to be in a relationship. Blake was hardly ever single, except for now, now that he'd moved. At the beginning, he barely knew people, though now, now he was fine, thankfully
Blake sighed. He tucked his books under his arm and walked towards the libarary. He hardly ever had a break. He went from one lecture to the other, and then, straight to the library in his free periods. He didn't see the point in going back to his dorm. He knew he'd just fall asleep if he did, and missing the lecture was out of the question. Blake did what he could, with the little time he had. Right now, visiting the library and getting some homework out of the way sounded better, and he'd be able to have a beer or hang out with friends after. It was how he got by without becoming a total hermit. Otherwise, he knew he'd never leave his dorm, not until he finished his work. It was how he was raised. He was disciplined, and his conscience always overpowered his actions.
As Blake walked into the library, he looked around briefly and sat down at the nearest table. He didn't even bother looking whether there was anyone sitting down or not. He wasn't about to waste time looking for one. He knew that finding an empty table was harder than finding one specific person among a crowd of look-alikes. It was Yale, there were loads of students and everyone looked for the same thing: an empty table. People were lucky to get one, and eventually, their luck would run out the moment someone would sit down with them. It wasn't so bad. Blake normally made friends with people he shared tables with, and he payed for the consequences later on when he had to stay in to finish his work.
He quickly took his books out of his bag, along with file paper, and a fountain-pen. Oh it was so clear that he was English, down to the pen. It was all he used while he was at school there; the teachers enforced it and he was now used to it. He shrugged, put the pen to the piece of paper and began writing. He didn't last long though; he quickly stopped, and couldn't attempt to go any further than that. He sighed, closed his eyes and shook his head. Engineering was a bitch, most of the time. He dug his face in his hands, put his pen down at simply stared at the piece of paper. Blake's day couldn't get any worse, yet as much as he felt it, he refused to say it. It had a habit of getting worse, unfortunately for him.
