hayden was born and raised in providence, rhode island, maybe a street or two away from beth's home. the two were always friendly. they new each other from around the place, but never really more than that. hayden is a kind, thoughtful person, who is always looking to cheer people up. he thinks his food does that, which is why he's so passionate about his chef job and his desire to own his own restaurant, which he now does, which was the reason for the move to new haven. he's a pretty stubborn guy, although he's tactful and knows when to quit for a while.
hayden and beth hadn't really known each other, but he was always watching her. he saw the change in her after she came back home from her first year at yale. she wasn't as bright, bubbly and happy as she had been. they talked and the change was confirmed. he continued to watch her, but the summer after her sophomore year and the summer after her junior year were the same. he was beginning to wonder what it was that left her so damaged. it was the fact that her first love, carter hoffman, cheated on her with her friend. anyway, sometime this month, hayden finally comes up with the money to start his own restaurant and he moves to new haven to do so. that's where he and beth reunite. the pair start talking and he does his best to get her to realise that not everything is bad. she holds him at arm's length and he tries to worm beneath her shell. the idea is that he gets her to warm up to friendship and eventually, to open her heart up to him. he wants to show her that not all love will end in heartbreak and despair. it will be a bumpy road, as beth is very untrusting at the moment and guards her heart closely.
the play-by is negotiable, just let me know who you'd prefer. this will likely be a dramatic plot filled with lots of arguments, lots of frustration and all those fun things to thread out. beth isn't an easy shell to crack. she's just as stubborn, so it will be complicated, but those are always the fun ones right? so please take him?! (:
