ADARA JAMENSON O'BRIEN
You left me dying, crying there
In whiskey, gin, and pints of beer
I fell for you my darling dear
You left me dying, crying there
In whiskey, gin, and pints of beer
I fell for you my darling dear
So it was that wonderful time again, back to work for like the seventh day in a row. Mind you, Adara didn’t mind working, but she was beginning to get rather run down. She was tired from school, homework and that fact she barley slept didn’t help the exhaustion she already felt. She never imagined that being an English major would be so exhausting. She loved writing, especially working on her novel, and the classes were easy enough. But tonight she was dragging her homework to work with her, something her boss was not fond of, but he was learning to accept it. She sighed as she crawled off her bed and over to her closet pulling out a low cut black dress shirt, and a pair of black skinning jeans. There wasn’t much of a dress code at work, accept for the fact you had to wear dark colors. She quickly changed before looking in her closet for a pair of black flats. Finding them, she easily slipped them on , before heading back to her vanity mirror. With a tired sigh she sat down, pulling out her make up bag and beginning to fix up her face. The best part about a working in a bar was it was dark, the men were drunk, so the tips were good. She grabbed her eye lash curler and began to curl them, before reaching for her the mascara and putting it on her long enticing eyelashes. Fixing up her eye liner she finally began messing with her hair. She decide that tonight she would wear it in loose pig tails: quick, easy and still attractive.
Adara smiled gathering up her things, including her text books, and headed out the door. It was nearing six, and tonight she was working until three in the morning. Thank god she didn’t have class tomorrow. She made her way out of the dorm with ease, attempting to avoid having to converse with anyone. No she wasn’t anti-social, just in a bit of a hurry. Addie made a way towards the parking lot, and edgy look to her as she did so. She seemed to always be well aware of her surroundings, kept her safe. She quickly found her black Prius, and climbed in. She through her stuff in the passenger seat before shutting the door, and turning the little fuel efficient car on. She began to drive, dodging the other students that ran across the road, and the drivers not paying attention. Adara finally made it to the bar, and parked her car in the back. She grabbed her things, and headed towards the back door, almost getting hit with the door as Tommy came racing out. “Feckin Gobdaw” she said under her breath, along with rolling her eyes. She walked into the back room laying her things down before heading out to the front. The bar was busy, which really didn’t surprise her, and she took to doing her job right away. Just recently she had gotten her bartending license, and now she found herself behind the bar, more than out on the floor.
She smiled as she saw some of the regulars, and made her way over. She leaned over the bar with a smile. “How are my favorite fellas?” she said with a grin. You had to give the girl credit she knew how to work for her tips. They smiled back at her. “Not to bad Ada, you seem to be in a good mood this evening. “ the older male replied. Addie grinned as she leaned off the counter, and crossed her arms with a playful smile. “Not to bad.” she replied before taking a glance around the bar. “Can I getcha another glass?” she asked. Adara never minded the people who came in here, most of them were incredibly nice, and those who got a little too touchy…. Well that’s what Adam was for, no one messed with the girls when Adam came out with that bat. “That would be great, darling.” he said with a smile before talking to his buddy once more. Ada walked back over and grabbed two glasses out from under the bar before filling them with Guinness, a personal favorite of hers. She carefully walked back and placed the beers down in front of the two guys. “Here you go Ada, keep the change.” he said with a smile handing her a twenty. Adara smiled. ”Thanks.” she said heading over to the register and ringing up the two beers before hopping up on the counter and sitting with her book. She began to flip through the pages and read the chapter that was due for tomorrow. Ada was sure that if anyone wanted her attention they’d get it by yelling at her. Most of the regulars knew her by name, so she wasn’t really all that worried that someone would bitch about bad service. They all knew how busy Adara was, and well for once people respect that.
